Job summary
We are looking for experienced and flexible Medical Secretaries to support our Consultant located within the Hospital.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for providing efficient administrative support to the department and Consultant on a daily basis, as well as secretarial support to the consultant(s). You will work closely with all internal and external departments to help deliver exceptional service to patients. It is essential to ensure that all hospital policies and procedures are upheld and maintained at all times.

Job responsibilities
* Ensuring the timely processing of all patient-related information, including clinic letters, reports, referrals, appointments, admissions, and general enquiries.
* Handling all correspondence within required timeframes.
* Booking all appointments and coordinating theatre bookings as required.
* Handling outstanding invoices for patients, insurers, or third parties to ensure prompt payment.
Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential)
* Well-established numeracy and literacy skills (GCSE or equivalent, at grade C or above in Mathematics and English)
* Typing or word processing qualification at RSA II (or equivalent)
* AMSPAR Advanced Diploma for Medical Secretaries Level 3 qualification (or equivalent)
* NVQ at level 3 or above in Business Administration (or equivalent)
* Substantive secretarial experience in a healthcare environment
* Experience with computerised systems and medical terminology
* Experience with audio transcription systems
* Experience managing consultants' accounts
* Knowledge of private medical insurers, authorisations, coding, and billing
* Proficiency with Windows-based computer systems and Microsoft Office applications, especially MS Word and Outlook
* Attention to detail, reliability in checking and recording data, and ability to self-check work
