You will need to be passionate and creative as well as resilient with a significant sense of fun. Play is an important part of the therapeutic approach. Your role is to facilitate access to learning for SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) pupils across the school. You will certainly get your steps in as our site is quite expansive. You will support teaching and learning, working with small groups and one to one as required. This is a challenging role but incredibly rewarding as part of a team which works together to make a real difference to the lives of our children with SEND. You will be expected to work between the hours of 8.45am – 3.15pm with a half an hour unpaid lunch and you will be expected to attend 1 hour of training on Mondays after school time and a half an hour team meeting on Thursdays after school time. We are looking for Higher Level Teaching Assistants who: have some knowledge about SEND are passionate about ensuring the highest quality learning for children with complex needs and severe learning difficulties are a good role model for students and fellow colleagues are prepared to use a range of strategies to support a diverse range of complex needs have strong and essential interpersonal skills and innovative techniques support each pupil to access a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum differentiated to meet individual needs support tasks relating to ‘real life’ experiences are passionate about supporting learning characteristics in pupils can adhere to policies and procedures and follow GDPR guidelines maintain confidentiality have a desire to participate in school and trust Continuous Professional Development opportunities have an awareness of Safeguarding have a willingness to contribute to the wider school through our curriculum, enrichment and extended school offer. You will need the following qualifications: SEND Experience (preferable) Grade C /4 Maths and English.
