The post holder will be professionally accountable for the Trust’s estates maintenance service and will lead and develop the cross-functional maintenance team to deliver a customer-focused service. They will also provide assurance and audit arrangements to demonstrate compliance with relevant standards and legal requirements.
The post holder will act as the Trust's Authorised Person for Electrical Infrastructure, Lifts, and Water systems, engaging with the Trust's Authorising Engineers.
They will monitor, improve, and maintain plans and equipment on a busy acute hospital site, developing clear standards and a consistent approach to managing and operating the facilities. This includes environmental maintenance and 'front of house' services that impact first impressions, with an emphasis on creating a friendly and helpful environment for patients.
The role involves implementing all Operational Health & Safety policies and protocols, ensuring compliance in practice. The post holder is responsible for cascading Trust management and personnel policies throughout the Estates Department.
They will oversee the safe, effective, and efficient operation of Electrical Infrastructure (LV & HV), acting as an Authorised Person for Low Voltage and High Voltage systems, Water, and Lifts, following HTM and Electrical at Work Regulations. Ensuring all testing, records, and compliance documents are current is essential.
The post holder will manage maintenance and testing of electrical infrastructure, ensuring proper documentation and acting as a technical specialist on capital schemes related to mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering, guided by building codes and health and safety legislation.
They should be familiar with computerised building management systems, plant reactive and planned maintenance systems, and the management of M&E assets, including electronic PPM management.
Responsibilities also include implementing working practices that ensure safe and efficient operation and maintenance of engineering plant and services, ensuring statutory and technical maintenance is completed on schedule, and maintaining records for audit purposes.
The post holder will provide expert technical knowledge on mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering issues for project departments.
