Overview
We are currently seeking a motivated Medical Retina Clinical Fellow (ST3+) within the Ophthalmology Service at The Royal London Hospital. This is a unique opportunity to gain advanced subspecialty training in all aspects of Medical Retina within a major trauma centre.
We hope this post will enable us to meet the increasing service needs of the local population while also providing a high quality experience and exciting research opportunities to advanced ophthalmology trainees.
Responsibilities
* To support the Medical Retina service at the Royal London Ophthalmology department (Outpatient clinics / Injection Clinics / Theatres).
* To participate in emergency ophthalmic care and the 3 tier on call rota (1 in 7).
* To actively participate in clinical trials, research, audit and teaching.
* To undertake administrative duties associated with the care of your patients.
* To respond to queries from patients, general practitioners and colleagues.
* To assist the SDM with complaint responses, when identified within the complaint.
* The post-holder may be required to perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the Ophthalmology Clinical Director/Lead.

Person Specification
Qualification and knowledge
* Essential: GMC registration and ophthalmology experience
* Desirable: Higher degree or Ophthalmology fellowship
Experience
* Essential: Working in a busy Eye department / on-call rotation / Experience in management of MR patients
* Desirable: Previous participation in clinical trials; Prior research experience; Publications in peer reviewed journals; Experience with management of ocular trauma (surgical) and acute emergencies
Skills
* Essential: Working in multidisciplinary teams
* Training junior doctors and allied healthcare professionals
* Clinical governance including audit
* Communication
* IT Skills
Record keeping
* Essential: Clear legible clinical record keeping
* Desirable: Experience with using paperless electronic patient records
