Our visual media team is seeking a talented, expert Photo Editor to join the London newsroom on a part-time basis. This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong editorial background, an eye for impactful imagery, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced global news environment. We'll trust you to: Select and edit news images for Bloomberg platforms, including the syndication site Utilize CMS, DAM systems, and wires to source and publish high-quality, newsworthy photos Demonstrate strong editorial judgment by matching text with appropriate and culturally sensitive imagery Write accurate and engaging captions and ensure proper attribution and licensing compliance Collaborate closely with the wider newsroom, drawing on Bloomberg's owned content, third-party sources, and proprietary tools to illustrate stories across platforms Work scheduled shifts, approximately 20 hours per week, to support a busy news desk You'll need to have: 5 years of experience in photo assigning and editing within an editorial news environment, spanning portraiture and reportage Advanced technical skills in Photoshop, Photo Mechanic, FTP, CMS, and DAM systems Strong awareness of current events, markets, economics, geopolitics, companies, and government policy Ability to rapidly interpret text and pair it with compelling, accurate imagery Outstanding eye for detail, with sensitivity to cultural context and visual impact Familiarity with image licensing, copyright, permissions, and privacy rights Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to perform under urgent deadlines in a fast-moving, global news environment We'd love to see: A high level of news awareness and sound editorial judgment Proficiency with digital asset management systems (DAMS) and newsroom publishing tools Strong technical and legal understanding of photo use, editing, and copyright A collaborative mindset and desire to contribute to Bloomberg's dynamic newsroom If this sounds like you: Apply if you think we're a good match.
