Senior Planner / Consultant Planner

With a varied client base spanning housebuilders, land promoters, retailers, leisure operators, national food and drink brands, banks, private healthcare providers and housing associations, this is an exciting opportunity to join a team working on impactful and high-profile projects across the country.
The Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Planner or Consultant Planner to join the team at their Bourne End office. You’ll be joining a friendly, knowledgeable team and collaborating with Directors, consultants, local authorities, and clients to deliver high-quality planning solutions that meet both policy requirements and commercial objectives.
This position sits between Senior Planner and Principal Consultant level, making it ideal for someone with solid experience in consultancy or local government who’s ready for the next step in their planning career.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide expert town planning advice to clients and internal colleagues
2. Manage and prepare planning applications, appeals, and planning appraisals
3. Draft Planning Statements and Appeal Statements
4. Represent clients at Hearings, Planning Committees, and meetings with local authorities
5. Recommend and manage external consultants where required
6. Lead and attend client and project team meetings
7. Assist in preparing fee proposals
8. Ensure all advice complies with national planning policy, planning law, and best practice
9. Maintain RTPI membership and professional development
Requirements:
10. MRTPI qualified (or actively working towards it)
11. Several years’ experience in town planning, preferably within consultancy
12. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
13. Commercially aware and confident managing client relationships
14. Strong understanding of the UK planning system and relevant legislation
15. Organised, proactive, and capable of managing your own projects
