5-month contract position with a local authority
Summary
* This is a 5-month contract position with a local authority, focused on managing a caseload of youth justice cases, including both out-of-court disposals and statutory court orders, in accordance with National Standards and the HMIP Inspection Framework. The role emphasises a Child First, Offender Second approach, aiming to reduce offending and re-offending through trauma-informed, evidence-based interventions and collaborative case management.
Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of youth justice cases, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and national standards.
* Deliver effective support and interventions to children and young people to help them complete their orders and lead crime-free lives.
* Use AssetPlus as the primary assessment and planning tool, focusing on trauma-informed practice and desistance-based approaches.
* Communicate effectively with children, families, and internal/external partners to ensure positive outcomes.
* Prepare and present high-quality reports, including Pre-Sentence Reports, Stand-Down Reports, and Referral Order Panel Reports.
* Represent the Youth Justice Team in court and other formal settings.
Experience
* Proven experience in youth justice, social work, probation, or a related field.
* Experience working directly with children and young people, particularly those at risk of offending or re-offending.
* Demonstrated ability to manage complex caseloads and deliver structured interventions.
* Experience in preparing formal reports and presenting in court or similar settings.
Qualification
* A relevant professional qualification in Youth Justice, Social Work, Probation, Criminology, or a related field (e.g., DipSW, CQSW, Youth Justice Degree).
* Evidence of continued professional development in areas such as trauma-informed practice, safeguarding, or restorative justice is desirable.

* Working hours: 36 hours per week
* Enhanced DBS is required for the role.
