About the role
The Production Team Leader is responsible for leading and supporting a team of operatives to safely deliver daily production targets while ensuring quality, compliance, and operational efficiency standards are met. The role combines hands‑on operational support with frontline leadership and accountability for shift performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Delivering Daily Production Targets
o Lead the shift to achieve daily output, efficiency, and performance targets.
o Monitor production KPIs (output, downtime, waste, OEE where applicable).
o Ensure production plans are communicated clearly at shift start.
o Identify and escalate issues that may impact targets.
o Coordinate labour and resources to maintain workflow.
o Support rapid problem‑solving to minimise downtime.
* Supporting & Leading Team Members
o Provide day‑to‑day direction and supervision to production operatives.
o Act as first point of contact for team queries and issues.
o Support training and onboarding of new team members.
o Coach and develop team members to improve performance.
o Promote positive morale and teamwork.
o Address minor performance concerns and escalate when required.
* Quality & Compliance
o Ensure all quality checks are carried out accurately and on time.
o Verify completion of hourly/shift quality inspections.
o Ensure correct documentation is completed and signed.
o Stop production if quality standards are compromised.
o Ensure correct product, batch codes, and packaging materials are used.
o Support investigations into non‑conformances and implement corrective actions.
* Health & Safety
o Promote a strong safety culture.
o Ensure team members follow safe working procedures.
o Conduct basic safety checks at start of shift.
o Report hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly.
o Ensure PPE compliance.
* Operational Control
o Allocate staff to production lines effectively.
o Monitor machine performance and elevate maintenance issues.
o Reduce waste and rework through proactive supervision.
o Maintain high housekeeping standards (5S).
o Ensure materials are available and staged correctly.
