 
        
        EDT Adults & Social Work Manager
Take charge of a fast-moving, high-impact service and lead by example. As a Social Work Team Manager, you’ll lead our Adults out‑hours service, supporting staff across our three boroughs as they respond to emergency adult referrals for a range of situations for local residents and stakeholders, providing appropriate interventions to help people manage their health and safety, and promote their wellbeing.
Working Style
You’ll be based in the Borough for a minimum of 2 days a week, playing a key role in serving the local community. Whether you’re working on the frontline or behind the scenes, you’ll be part of a dedicated team making a real difference to residents’ lives.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will lead the Tri‑Borough Emergency Duty Service – our out‑hours social care provision for adults. Every shift brings something new, and you’ll be right at the centre of it all: supporting the team, managing risks, and ensuring decisions are rooted in care, competence and compliance with the law.
 * Manage a skilled team of AMHPs, Social Workers and Triage officers handling complex, urgent cases.
 * Lead regular handovers, oversee safeguarding referrals, manage rotas and step in on the central AMHP rota once a month.
 * Represent the service in key multi‑agency forums, building strong relationships with the police, NHS and other partners.
 * Lead on service improvement and collaborate with partners to ensure effective delivery across the Boroughs.
 * Support the Service Manager on project work, including a major service review.
 * Take responsibility for performance monitoring, audits and budget management.
What You’ll Bring
 * Qualified, registered social worker with substantial experience as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) – and ideally a Best Interest Assessor (BIA).
 * Experience managing teams in local authority settings and understanding what it takes to deliver safe and effective out‑hours care.
 * Flexibility, calm under pressure, ability to lead through uncertainty and adapt quickly to complex situations.
 * Excellent communication and diplomatic skills, with confidence using auditing systems and tools such as Excel or business analytics software.
 * A strong commitment to the values and resilience needed to lead in this high‑impact area of adult social care.
