Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust is recruiting Senior Clinical Advisors for our Emergency Operations Centres (999) in Wakefield and York. The role is part of the Remote Patient Care team delivering invaluable service to patients across Yorkshire. We are seeking highly motivated, enthusiastic clinicians who are NMC RN1 or HCPC Paramedic registered. Recruitment is open to external and internal applicants.
Internal Paramedic Applicants may choose to work 100% as an EOC Senior Clinical Advisor or opt for a rotational role (5 weeks A&E operational, 5 weeks EOC). This vacancy is only for Wakefield & York call centres; Remote Hub vacancies will be advertised separately.
Training: the position begins on a training contract until successful completion, after which it moves to a permanent contract. Homeworking opportunities are not available.
Responsibilities
* Assessment of health and clinical needs, employing evidence‑based practice and decision support software to achieve safe clinical outcomes.
* Delivery of generalist and specialist care to patients in emergency settings.
* Assessment of high acuity symptoms and recognition of red‑flag conditions.
* Referral to internal and external clinicians.
* Providing medical assessment, medication advice, health information and implementing care packages; liaising with other agencies and providers as necessary.
Qualifications & Experience
* Regulated NMC RN1 or HCPC Paramedic registered; NMC PRN not eligible.
* Experience in emergency care, assessment of high acuity symptoms, and broad knowledge of conditions.
* Understanding of red‑flag symptoms and consequences.

* Ability to make quick, safe clinical decisions under pressure and identify red‑flag symptoms and conditions.

Assessment and Interview Information
If you are successful at the shortlisting stage, you will be invited to an in‑person assessment on 14 April 2026 at Wakefield HQ. Candidates will be required to pass a telephone triage assessment and a short clinical‑based assessment.
Successful candidates will then be invited to an in‑person interview on 21 or 22 April at Wakefield HQ. If you are unable to attend on these dates, we kindly ask that you wait and apply in the next recruitment round, as alternative interview dates or remote interviews cannot be accommodated.

Note: The training and mentorship period is 7 weeks full time, even for part‑time roles.
