Our Shift Leader rate of pay starts from £15.59 an hour; this increases to £16.86 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.

We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week. If you prefer fewer hours (to a minimum of 12) we can accommodate and would still love to hear from you.

Customers are at the heart of everything we do. As a Shift Leader you will support the store team, keep operations running smoothly, and deliver excellent customer service day to day.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a fast‑paced retail environment with a wide variety of products.
  • Take ownership of running duty shifts, coordinating the team to maintain a clean, well‑stocked store that exceeds customer expectations.
  • Assist customers by listening to their needs and ensuring they leave the store satisfied.
  • Look for ways to improve service, including coaching colleagues and giving feedback.
  • Guide and support your colleagues in‑store, helping maintain a safe working and shopping environment.
  • Understand store performance and assist managers in delivering actions that improve operations.
  • Lead from the front, setting a great example for colleagues.
  • Coordinate the store team to deliver an easy, fuss‑free shopping experience for customers.
  • Support colleagues with daily priorities and regular breaks.
  • Open and close the store, completing duty cover and making the right safety decisions.
  • Act as the point of contact for day‑to‑day queries when the manager is absent.Keep the store clean, tidy and well‑presented.
  • Coordinate seasonal, community and charity events with managers.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive team atmosphere.
  • Keep the team informed of communications, changes or updates.
  • Stay knowledgeable about store performance, looking for ways to simplify and improve operations.
  • Identify and remove obstacles to great service.
  • Follow health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same.
  • Recognise and celebrate colleagues who provide outstanding service.

  • Be a great role model, consistently providing thoughtful customer service that meets every customer’s needs.
  • Build strong, lasting relationships with colleagues to create a positive, inclusive team atmosphere.
  • Communicate clearly, using a variety of methods to keep the team well‑informed.
  • Comfortable taking the lead and overseeing the store in the absence of the manager.
  • Make good decisions, being flexible and able to handle change for the benefit of customers and colleagues.
  • Motivate the team to deliver beyond expectations.
  • Be curious, constantly seeking ideas and opportunities to serve customers, communities and the planet better.
