We are excited to be looking for a Bridges & Structures Civil Engineering apprentice to join our Hertfordshire office. You will work towards achieving a UK Level 6 qualification at London South Bank University.
Responsibilities
As a Bridges & Structures apprentice, you will be involved in the full project lifecycle, from initial options analysis through outline and detailed design, to potential on‑site support during the construction phase. Your responsibilities will include:
* Assisting with and planning bridge inspections
* Producing technical drawings using AutoCAD
* Performing engineering calculations that progress in complexity as your knowledge develops through your studies
* Collaborating with various internal disciplines, as well as external stakeholders, clients, and contractors
* Learning primarily through work shadowing and mentorship from experienced colleagues
Qualifications
* A minimum of 120 UCAS tariff points including grade B in A‑level Mathematics or equivalent
* A keen interest in bridge engineering
* Strong communication and team‑working skills
* A flexible and proactive self‑starter who’s passionate about developing new skills
* The ability to adapt and prioritise whilst juggling work and study priorities
* Enthusiasm and curiosity to apply your skills to solve real‑world problems
* Empathy and listening skills to help you truly understand our clients’ requirements
* A well‑rounded person – worked in a bar? Been captain of a sports team or volunteered for a charity? Tell us – we’re looking for people with interesting stories and experiences!
* You must have the permanent right to work in the UK
