Reference 151089 Assistant Director of Care & Support Birmingham Salary Competitive 37.5 hours per week About the role We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant Director of Care & Support to lead the strategic and operational delivery of our care and support services. You will work closely with the Executive Director of Operations to ensure financial control, budget management, and the provision of safe, high-quality services. Your role will involve leading service improvement initiatives, upholding regulatory standards, and strengthening safeguarding measures to achieve excellent outcomes for clients and residents. Additionally, you will contribute to tender submissions, business development proposals, and competitive bidding processes to secure new contracts and ensure sustainable growth. Key Responsibilities: - Provide strong, visible leadership for the Care and Support directorate and contribute to the wider organization as a member of the Senior Leadership Team. - Lead the delivery of high-quality, person-centred, safe, and inclusive services that meet the diverse needs of our residents and communities. - Offer strategic leadership and expert advice to the Executive Team, Board, and Committees on all aspects of care and support delivery, quality, performance, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance. - Act as a key advisor on service development, commissioning, regulatory risk, and quality assurance. - Ensure robust quality assurance frameworks are in place to monitor service standards, outcomes, and compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements. - Champion a strong, resident-centred culture where services are co-designed and shaped around the needs, aspirations, and lived experiences of residents. - Develop and maintain strong, productive relationships with commissioners, local authorities, health partners, and voluntary sector organizations. - Take accountability for budget setting, financial control, forecasting, and overall financial performance across all care and support services. Experience and Qualifications: - Significant senior-level experience within care and support, supported housing, health, social care, or a related field. - Proven experience of leading regulated services, including inspection processes and safeguarding governance. - Substantial experience of managing large service budgets and commissioning or contract management arrangements. - Degree or professional qualification in a relevant field (e.g., social care, health, housing, public services, or management). - Relevant professional membership (e.g., CIH, Skills for Care, Social Work England, or equivalent) is desirable.
