Job Title: Yard Supervisor
Reporting to: Service Manager
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 40 hours, ½ hour unpaid lunch, overtime paid at time and a half after 40 hours
Salary: £14 per hour depending on experience
Location: Strood Depot
Purpose:
We're looking for a hard-working and reliable Yard Supervisor who takes pride in their work and can motivate the yard team, to join our friendly team. The ideal person would have a drivers licence, a can do attitude and enjoy all aspects of yard based work. You will be moving, cleaning, greasing up and checking fluid levels and topping up as necessary and preparing machines prior to fitters' inspection. You will also be tasking and monitoring the other members of the yard team and ensuring they stay motivated and productive. You should have a good attention to detail and pride in the quality of the equipment that leaves the yard. Experience of working in a workshop (or similar environment) would be essential but training will also be given on the job. You will be directed by and report to our Service Manager.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Supervise day to day yard operations to ensure efficient workflow and safe working practices.
* Allocate work to yard operatives, monitor performance and provide guidance and support.
* Control equipment bookings list and ensure work is allocated to the yard team.
* Liase with office, yard and workshop staff, external suppliers and contractors.
* Manage maintenance and cleanliness of the yard and workshop.
* Complete pre and post hire paperwork.
* General preparation of machines prior to fitters' checks and sign off
* Preparation includes greasing up, checking and topping up fluid levels, fuel, oil, ad blue.
* Maintain clean and tidy organised yard.
* Willingness to start early, work late if required, overtime available at 1.5 x hourly rate.
* Ensure health and safety standards within the yard and workshop areas
Skills/Qualifications:
* Previous experience in a supervisory role within a yard or warehouse environment.
* Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation.
* Ability to lead and motivate a team
* Good organisational skills.
* Strong communication skills
* Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
* Own transport or ability to commute to Strood Depot (ME2 4DZ)
* Can do attitude.
* Ability to build good working relationships with depot personnel.
* Work to high standards, with good attention to detail.
