About the role
Within the Housing & Neighbourhoods department, the Private Sector Housing Service is undergoing a major transformation to become more proactive, tenant-focused and intelligence-driven. This entry‑level role is designed to give the successful candidate a breadth of experience across diverse workstreams, while ensuring an effective triage and resolution of complaints from residents and members.
Responsibilities
* Operate an effective triage of complaints from residents and members and allocate the investigation of these complaints to the team.
* Act as the first point of contact for complaints about disrepair, licensing, unlawful eviction and harassment from tenants in the Private Rented Sector.
* Engage in all of the varied workstreams carried out by the team, offering reasonable assistance to officers to support their duties efficiently.
* Promote the service across the Council and develop partnerships with colleagues in Homelessness, Housing Options, and Tenancy Sustainment services.
* Deliver a successful front‑line, residents‑facing service, attending the office during normal office hours and responding to same‑day complaints received through the Call Centre, the dedicated Private Sector Housing email box, and personal callers at reception.
