Overview / Background
The Austin Company of UK (Austin) has a strong pipeline of projects with multiple clients which have a large process engineering scope.
Traditionally Austin have used design partners to deliver these projects however the scope and quantity of these projects demands a proactive approach to their delivery and integration within the project team.
Austin US has a strong process team covering Process, Process Mechanical, EC&I and Piping. These engineers have availability and are capable across the pharma and food sectors.
Austin has decided there is a requirement to have process knowledge and process project management inhouse using a process project manager who can manage design, QA check the incoming deliverables, manage workload across the UK design partners and with our US colleagues.
Role Description
In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for managing the design and implementation of manufacturing processes and supporting utilities on a range of scales (clinical trials to commercial manufacture) and across multiple project stages including concept to detailed design.
Ideally, the incumbent will have process design and operations experience in the pharmaceutical, life sciences and food sectors.
A key part of this role is managing design development and coordination between our UK office, US Process Support Team and any external consultants.
Principal Accountabilities
* Manage generation of and review conceptual design deliverables such as Process Flow Diagrams and Material and Energy Balances.
* Manage generation of and review utility requirements for new manufacturing processes, design utility generation, and distribution systems.
* Manage generation of and review Process and Utility P&IDs that include control strategy.
* Perform engineering studies for expanding, improving, or automating existing facilities.
* Manage generation of and review calculations, specifications and performance data sheets for process equipment and instrumentation.
* Assume ownership of the process-related aspects of projects and provide technical support to the design team.
* Manage scope and workloads coordinating with the US team, UK team and any design partners.
General
* Establish and maintains strong working relationships with clients and team members.
* Generate and maintain inhouse standards
* Support the Director of Engineering with overall design and quality management.
* Comply with the company’s Quality Assurance procedures and assist in improving the company’s procedures to ensure that the best service is provided on all projects to improve the company’s overall performance.
Qualifications & Requirements
* 6 - 10 years of process engineering design experience, preferably in the Pharmaceutical industry.
* Strong project management and work package management experience
* Bachelor’s or Masters Degree in Chemical engineering, Mechanical engineering, or Electrical engineering degrees or similar required.
* Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards this
* Knowledge of cGMP and key industry regulations.
* Strong management skills across time, personnel, client and design.
