Join our Streetlighting team at Essex Highways and play a key role in keeping the Essex network safe, efficient, and moving. Reporting into a collaborative and safety-focused team, you’ll provide essential operational support that helps deliver sustainable service excellence across the county.
From raising permits and TTRO requests to managing call-outs, processing timesheets, coordinating vehicle maintenance, and scheduling works through Mayrise and PLANet, you’ll be at the heart of our day-to-day operations. The Role
1. Provide comprehensive operational and administrative support to the Essex Highways Streetlighting team.
2. Raise and close daily permits (including TTRO requests), liaising with the permitting team as required and maintain accurate project statistics.
3. Process weekly timesheets and Toolbox Talks, ensuring all records are completed and submitted accurately and on time.
4. Manage the call-out phone, assign works to the operational team, and schedule activities using Mayrise and PLANet asset management systems.
5. Coordinate team and depot logistics, including booking meetings, scheduling vehicle maintenance, organising skip/waste disposal, and supporting additional administrative duties as required.
About You
6. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues and customers.
7. Confident IT user with a good level of computer literacy and ability to learn new systems quickly.
8. Customer-focused approach, with experience in public-facing or customer service environments advantageous.
9. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and proactive problem-solving skills.
10. Experience with asset management systems and/or familiarity with the Essex road network or public sector administration is desirable.
