Domestic Abuse Intervention Specialist

Full-time | 36 hours per week | 1 year FTC with the potential to extend

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by domestic abuse? We are seeking a dedicated Domestic Abuse Intervention Specialist to provide a high-quality, survivor-led service that prioritises safety, wellbeing, and empowerment.

About the Role

As a Domestic Abuse Intervention Specialist, you play a vital role in delivering holistic support to victims and survivors of domestic abuse and working proactively with perpetrators to help them recognise and change harmful behaviours. You conduct risk assessments, safety planning, and offer ongoing emotional and practical support. You also engage children and young people who have witnessed abuse, ensuring they access appropriate therapeutic interventions. The role involves multi-agency collaboration with social care, police, health, and voluntary sector partners to ensure coordinated and effective responses for families.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide trauma-informed, survivor-focused support through risk assessment, safety planning, and advocacy.
* Deliver holistic case management for individuals and families affected by domestic abuse.
* Support children and young people impacted by domestic abuse to access appropriate support.
* Engage perpetrators through motivational interviewing to encourage behavioural change.
* Work collaboratively with partners across social care, criminal justice, and community services.
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to service development through feedback and reflection.
* Promote awareness of domestic abuse and deliver guidance or training to professionals where required.

About You

We look for someone who is compassionate, resilient, and able to work in a fast-paced, emotionally demanding environment. You demonstrate:

* Experience supporting survivors of domestic abuse or individuals with complex needs.
* Knowledge of safeguarding procedures for children and adults.
* Strong communication and advocacy skills, with confidence working in multi-agency settings.
* Ability to work independently and manage a busy caseload.
* An understanding of equality, diversity, and the intersectional nature of domestic abuse.

An IDVA qualification (or willingness to work toward one) is desirable.

What We Offer

* Ongoing professional development and specialist training.
* Clinical supervision and reflective practice.
* Supportive team environment with a focus on staff wellbeing.
* Opportunity to make a real and lasting impact on individuals, families, and communities.
