About the School
Compass Community School Mountfields Park is an independent specialist day school providing high‑quality, therapeutic and child‑centred education to boys and girls from 7 to 17 years of age in Loughborough. Our children come from a wide range of backgrounds but all have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH). Many will also have other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) such as Autism, ADHD and communication difficulties.
The Role
We are all primarily teachers of children rather than teachers of subjects. Central to this role is knowing the child, building professional, nurturing and positive relationships and motivating students.
Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver an English curriculum that spans Entry Level, Functional Skills, Key Stage 3 and GCSE.
* Use a trauma‑ and attachment‑informed approach to support students with complex and challenging behaviours.
* Work collaboratively with education and therapy professionals, parents/carers, local authority teams and students to secure outstanding outcomes.
* Contribute to the development of the academic curriculum and extracurricular offer, bringing your own interests and passions to the table.
* Participate in regular therapeutic and supportive supervision.
Qualifications and Experience
English specialist with experience planning and delivering curriculum across key stages. Ability to adapt planning for students with complex needs. Willingness to pursue professional qualification opportunities.
Salary and Benefits
Starting salary based on prior experience with complex needs – £37,440 for the most experienced teachers, with potential to rise to £45,000 depending on performance. Other benefits include:
