Looking for a role where you feel part of a team - not just a rota?

Join us and get the career you want - and the lifestyle you’ve been looking for!

Join us in Northern Lincolnshire and discover a career (and a lifestyle) that’s a little different from the rest of the NHS.

At our Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby and Scunthorpe General Hospital, we pride ourselves on something rare in modern medicine - a close-knit, family feel. Everyone knows each other, the team is supportive, and you’ll quickly feel part of a community where your contribution genuinely matters.

If you’re looking for more than just another consultant post, this is it.
We’re offering an opportunity to join a service where your skills will grow, your ideas will be heard, and your work-life balance will mean something.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to be appointed as Honorary Senior Lecturer at Hull York Medical School (HYMS). This honorary appointment is in recognition of contribution to teaching and research and holders of honorary titles may request access to HYMS and University premises and facilities, systems, and library services.

Job Description approved by the Royal College

Main duties of the job

Scunthorpe General Hospital, Goole District Hospital and Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital deliver a full range of emergency/secondary health care services including intensive and high dependency care.

As a senior employee of the Trust the post-holder will work in close co-operation with, and support, other clinical, medical, professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Trust’s patients.

Integral to the responsibilities of the post are the following requirements:

1. Delivering first-class clinical care to our patients, with opportunities to work in both Anaesthesia and Intensive Care.

3. Bringing your expertise to a varied and rewarding caseload in a non-hierarchical, team-focused environment

About you

4. Qualified & registered – GMC-registered with a licence to practise, trained to consultant level in Anaesthesia.
5. Proven experience – Skilled in Trauma lists and Critical Care, with a strong track record of delivering safe, high-quality patient care.
6. A mentor & leader – You take pride in supporting junior doctors, teaching medical students, and contributing to the growth of your team
7. Team-focused – You value collaboration over hierarchy, bringing a positive, solution-focused approach to every challenge.
8. Committed to growth – You see this as an opportunity to enhance your own expertise, gain exposure to subspecialties, and shape the next stage of your career.

If you’re the kind of consultant who wants to combine professional development with a better quality of life, you’ll fit right in here.

Working for our organisation

The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community Partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.

Made up of two Trusts - Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) - our Partnership has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve.

Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLAG and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH.

As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas - biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.

We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our Partnership and our community.
