Steps Support Residential are opening a brand new single occupancy children's home in Autumn 2025, our children's home will be newly registered giving the team the opportunity to create a positive culture not only for the child whose home it is but also for the team.
The home is a spacious and cosy property, we look after a single (solo) child in this home, providing a warm and loving environment where they can feel safe and encouraged to thrive.
Our ethos and values build on a compassionate and nurturing parenting style, with a strong emphasis on high aspirations for the young people we support.
The Role
As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in the day to day running of the home, you will ensure high standards of care and support in a safe, nurturing environment for the young person. You will lead and support a team of Residential Support Workers, helping them deliver outstanding care that promotes stability, growth, independence and positive outcomes.
You will play a key role in shaping the future of our home, supporting the Registered Manager, and leading by example. We offer extensive training, and a supportive culture where your experience is valued, and your leadership makes a real impact.
You will be responsible to help ensure the home meets all legislation, including children's homes regulations, quality standards and Steps Support Residential policies. You'll be one of the home's leadership team, supervising care, and giving our young person the support they need to thrive.
Duties Include:
* Assist the Registered Manager in all aspects of the residential care of the Ofsted registered home, ensuring a high-quality service that meets the needs of our children and young people
* Ensure the home is providing a high quality service which meets the OFSTED children's home regulations
* Direct support to children, promoting good practice and acting as role model to RSW's
* Act as Manager in the absence of the Registered Manager and supervise the team of RSW's
* Develop and implement care plans and risk assessments which are individualised meeting needs of each child
* Attend meetings and communicate effectively with children, families, and other professionals
* Maintain accurate daily records of progress and key events in: family time, daily summaries, medication, activities, achievements and rewards, key worker sessions and independence skills (List not exhaustive)
* Accompany our child/children on holidays away from the residential home.
* Sleep-in overnight (single occupancy staff bedrooms provided)
* Be part of the on call team
About You
* NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Children's Residential / Level 3 or 4 in Children and Young People's Workforce or a willingness to work towards
* A Driving Licence is essential for this role
