Purpose of Post
The post holder will participate in and contribute to the development, management and delivery of learning and teaching for the Master of Public Health programme and other undergraduate, CPD and inter‑professional education provision. Working in partnership with the Head of Subject, staff and external stakeholders, the post holder will support students, assist research and scholarship, and help build the professional, academic and scholarly profile of the School of Nursing & Allied Health.
Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver teaching for Public Health undergraduate and postgraduate modules and programmes in line with the university’s learning, teaching and assessment strategy.
* Produce teaching materials that meet key education standards and align with the UK Public Health Register and relevant professional bodies.
* Make appropriate use of technology to support learning and teaching, for example the university’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
* Work in partnership with academic colleagues, senior managers and experts by experience to deliver high‑quality modules and programmes that respond to the needs of the public.
* Supervise and provide student support and guidance, acting as an Academic Personal Tutor (ATP).
* Support engagement with external public health teams, local authorities and other relevant stakeholders.
* Mark and assess assessment tasks, provide timely and constructive feedback, and conduct all assessment activities in line with university quality processes.
* Participate in quality assurance procedures, including internal moderation of assignments, liaison with external examiners and monitoring of relevant standards and requirements.
* Attend planning meetings, relevant committees, panels and boards.
* Attend external activities where required, including outreach and course promotion.
* Attend examination boards and other meetings relating to student performance.
* Participate in the staff appraisal scheme.
* Participate in Continuing Professional Development, including mandatory training courses required by the university.
* Conduct research and scholarship that may be eligible for inclusion in the REF or similar quality validation exercises appropriate for the career stage.
* Disseminate research through appropriate channels, including publishing articles in peer‑reviewed journals and presenting at national and international conferences.
* Undertake any other duties determined by the Vice‑Chancellor that support the effective operation of the university.
