We are seeking an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to help deliver our contract for the Strategic Rail Freight Interchange (SRFI) at SEGRO Logistics Park Radlett, located at the former Radlett Aerodrome site in Hertfordshire. The project will deliver a state‑of‑the‑art rail freight terminal, extensive distribution warehouses and 600 acres of green space. Construction is expected to take place over the next three years and will bring community and environmental benefits including biodiversity net gain and employment opportunities.
Responsibilities
* Provide assistance to site staff on commercial issues within the Project(s).
* Encourage and develop a culture of commercial awareness within the team.
* Provide support and guidance to junior staff on commercial issues.
* Assist in the preparation of internal commercial reporting and any other reports required.
* Assist in the preparation of Valuations/Applications for Payment with full supporting documentation in accordance with the contract.
* Assist in the preparation of Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant supporting documentation.
* Assist in the preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules.
* Assist in the administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from detailed requisitions to payment authorisation.
* Assist in required contract administration, including change management and maintaining associated registers.
* Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.
* Utilise the costing system and manage cost control / mitigation.
* Use the cost allocation/coding to satisfy internal and external requirements.
* Maintain site records and measurement of quantities according to standard methods.
* Assist in preparation of project final accounts and drafting of simple subcontracts.
Qualifications
* Experience within a construction/engineering or similar background.
* Degree qualified, A levels & HNC (construction related).
* Good time management and organisational skills.
* Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
* Understanding of NEC contracts desirable.
