Charge nurse

Offer description

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to join Amber A team. The ward specializes in trauma and orthopaedics. Queen's Hospital is a centralised trauma centre with a regional neuro unit, making it a busy hospital where you will gain valuable experience.

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to join our specialized team. Amber A is part of the surgical care group, committed to empowering our workforce and valuing your opinion. We look for candidates who prioritize patients' best interests and wish to join a successful multidisciplinary team.

We emphasize personal growth and development. A dedicated practice development nurse provides support through educational sessions, clinical guidance, group training, one-to-one development, and simulation training.

Amber A recently achieved silver in the ward accreditation programme.

We welcome informal visits or virtual conversations with our Band 7 ward manager. To arrange this, please contact us.

Role Responsibilities

1. Provide focused leadership and manage ward staff and activities.
2. Act as a role model, providing leadership and coordinating the ward team.
3. Demonstrate advanced clinical specialist skills to deliver high-standard, evidence-based, patient-centered care, supervising others as per standards.
4. Take responsibility for the ward or clinical area.

Our organization is continuously improving, driven by a commitment to delivering quality care. We are no longer in special measures, have expanded with new theatres at King George Hospital, and our CEO was named top in 2024.

We operate from two main sites: KGH in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford, with busy emergency departments serving over 330,000 visitors last year. We are advocating for £35m to transform Queen’s A&E and eliminate corridor care.

Our services include Women’s Health in Ilford, an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch, and Community Diagnostic Centres at Barking Hospital and St George’s Hub, providing extensive diagnostic services.

Our diverse staff of 8,000, from 146 countries, work flexibly across the boroughs, many in apprenticeship programs. We are proud to be a London Living Wage employer and are preparing to implement a transformative electronic patient record system.

For detailed role information, see the attached Job Description and Person Specification. Review the full specifications before applying and demonstrate how you meet the criteria in your application.

All new staff are subject to a probationary period. For application assistance or adjustments, contact Adeyemi Kaka at 01708 435000 ext. 5162.

This advert closes on Sunday, 3 August 2025.
