Exciting new role: B6 CAMHS Crisis Liaison Clinician joining our expanding CAMHS Crisis pathways team.
The post holder will work on a shift pattern, assessing patients across the urgent care pathway. They will work autonomously and flexibly to manage day-to-day assessments and advise on the management of CYP under 18 presenting with self-harm and acute mental health difficulties at A&E Barnet General Hospital or North Middlesex University Hospital.
The role involves undertaking therapeutic tasks individually and with the multidisciplinary team, developing specialist skills in assessing psychiatric emergencies and self-harm. The post holder will receive and assess referrals from various sources, including A&E, wards, community teams, schools, and self-referrals, offering advice on management and liaising with community CAMHS teams to ensure appropriate care plans.
Effective IT skills are essential for recording clinical information and communication with colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Participate as an effective MDT member, developing and implementing patient-centered care plans.
2. Meet the physical, psychological, social, and cultural needs of patients and their families, using evidence-based knowledge.
3. Provide education to patients about their mental health, fostering understanding and coping strategies.
4. Recognize and involve families/carers in care, offering support and education with empathy.
5. Conduct initial mental health and risk assessments for CYP presenting with high risk or self-harm.
6. Carry out assessments of mental health needs within a therapeutic framework, contributing to care planning.
7. Provide high standards of care aligned with Trust policies and procedures.
