We are particularly keen to hear from protected groups – including BAME, LGBT+ and people with a disability.
Job overview
The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Foundation Trust (UHMBT) wants to provide sustainable high quality medical services that fit with the Better Care Together integrated model of care – high quality specialist hospital services wrapping around community based teams to deliver responsive specialist expertise within both acute hospital and community settings and helping to keep people well and to manage their long term conditions closer to home.
We work as a multi-disciplinary team and you will have the opportunity to help improve our pathways of care for our patients at a time of exciting service review and development.
As a Trust we actively support you to develop your knowledge and skills via our Annual Development Review programme and there is support for external courses.
Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our rapidly developing and innovative podiatry team. In this role you will be responsible for delivering a high quality, accessible and timely evidence based service for patients.
Based across South Lakes with some outreach into Furness, you will be responsible for the provision of care to the increased/high risk caseload. You will need to be an excellent communicator and able to work independently and confidently. We will consider newly qualified podiatrists in a developmental role (annex 21).
Our primary focus is to deliver quality, patient-centred care which is evidenced based and sustainable for the future in an ever changing NHS landscape. To achieve this, we aim to give you the opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive, dynamic and varied environment. We have a strong commitment to staff development and service improvement and provide regular clinical supervision and in-service training.
Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
