About the Role
We are seeking a caring and proactive Occupational Therapy Assistant to join a specialist SEN setting in Lancaster. This role involves working closely with pupils who have a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and sensory processing difficulties, supporting them to access learning and develop essential life and motor skills.
The successful candidate will work under the guidance of an Occupational Therapist and alongside teaching and pastoral staff to deliver targeted interventions that promote independence, regulation, and engagement.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of occupational therapy programmes and interventions
* Assist pupils with sensory regulation, fine and gross motor skills, and daily functional activities
* Implement therapy strategies within classroom and intervention settings
* Support pupils on a one-to-one and small-group basis
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress monitoring
* Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals
Person Specification
* Experience working with children or young people with SEN is essential
* Background in occupational therapy, health, care, or education is desirable
* Patient, empathetic, and able to adapt approaches to individual needs
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Relevant qualification or willingness to undertake training preferred
