The Vacancy
As The Days Mechanical Technician, you will be part of a multi-disciplined diagnostic team responding to breakdowns and completing planned maintenance working 12-hour days. You will support the departments' Shift Management team (Production and Engineering) to ensure Safety, Quality, and Production Plans are all met.

The Role of the Days Mechanical Technician
* Report to the Team Leader Engineering on all matters regarding the maintenance and operation of all plant and equipment.
* Carry out planned and unplanned maintenance activities on all aspects of plant and equipment on site.
* Self-organise and prioritise work requirements, managing these accordingly and as directed by the team leader, section engineer, or shift manager.
* Assist in developing maintenance practices and procedures to improve and maintain the plant and equipment.
* Pick up work, book out spares, and keep records of work carried out via CMMS, updating the team on issues.
* Ensure all legalisation relating to all systems is met and records are kept.
* Advise the team leader or section engineer of any spares used or required.
* Ensure all team members adhere to the agreed procedures and systems of working at all times and report any changes that prevent working to these standards. Participate in creating RA SWP & JTDs.
* Complete point of work risk assessments.
* Provide continuity of cover on site in the event of sickness & holiday.
* Maintain all equipment to the required standard, liaising with all members of the engineering department as required.
* Reduce/eliminate all forms of waste from department operations.
* Assist in all aspects of the company as requested.
* Deputise for the Team Leader.
* Supervise/organise a multi-skilled workforce.
* Undertake on-the-job training and learn new skills as provided.
* Participate in plant improvement projects.
* The team may be requested to assist across-site to support business objectives, gaining experience in all departments.
Requirements of the Days Mechanical Technician
* A recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship (preferably HNC or minimum ONC level or equivalent).
* Sound plant engineering knowledge and experience with industrial systems such as hydraulic systems, pumps, drives, gearboxes, water cooling systems, and dust extraction systems.
* A self-starting individual capable of leading a small team.
* Ability to work with cross-functional groups.
* Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to fault find to root cause and implement frontline rectification.
* Experience working under permit systems or knowledge of how permit systems operate.
* A customer-focused attitude with good prioritisation skills.
Working Pattern
This is a 12-hour day shift role, including weekend work with days off during the week.
