Overview

To provide continuing management, leadership and development responsibilities ensuring the effective delivery of clinical/evidence-based practice by the team to a diverse group of patients, their families and carers, in accordance with quality practice and procedures. Ensuring all performance management and clinical governance arrangements are in place. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Perinatal Community Mental Health Team, a county-wide service providing care to women and their families in the perinatal period.

We are keen to recruit people who enjoy working in multi-disciplinary teams and who are creative, adaptable and responsive to the needs of the service. We are looking for someone passionate about working with women and their families, with values aligned to the organisation, including compassion and a person-/family-centred focus. Experience in this area is not essential.


Responsibilities

* Support the team to maintain the quality of the service in line with NICE and RCPsych CCQI standards.
* Have oversight of the team caseload, keeping waiting times for assessment and treatment in view to ensure timely access to services.
* Support management of referrals into the service and allocation of workload throughout the team.
* Manage clinical staff in the Perinatal CMHT (Nurses, Nursery Nurses, PSWs and Social Workers).
* Collaborate with Consultant Psychiatrists, Psychology Lead and allied health professionals from Midwifery, Health Visiting and GP services to provide holistic, evidence-informed care.
* Play an active role in training health colleagues to recognise mental health needs and make appropriate referrals.
* Support the Service Manager in reporting to NHS England, Commissioners and internal quality systems and governance.
* Be part of the First On Call rota for the Specialist Services Care Unit.
* Be a car owner/driver with a current driving licence (unless you have a disability as defined by the Disability Discrimination Act 1995).


Requirements / Qualifications

* Passion for working with women and their families; values aligned with the organisation (compassion, person-/family-centred focus). Experience in perinatal mental health is not essential.
* Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams; creative, adaptable and responsive to service needs.
* Commitment to personal and professional development; willingness to engage in training and development opportunities.
* Full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use; reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.


Additional information

DBS checks: Applicants are required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. DBS standard £26.40 or enhanced £54.40; DBS Update Service annual £16. We encourage enrolment in the DBS Update Service.

Informal visits and discussions are welcome.

A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use are required for this post; reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.
