NRL are recruiting for an M&E Technician on behalf of one of our large clients on a permanent basis based in Peterborough.
Main Purpose of Job
To support the M&E Supervisor and Hard FM & Compliance Manager in the delivery of Maintenance & Reactive Services across three sites forming the PFI Peterborough Schools contract. This includes all electrical plant and installations which will be a requisite of the required core skills. The role will ensure: Timely response to all reactive requests, delivery of all assigned Planned Preventative Maintenance activities, liaise with third party specialist suppliers, assist in undertaking where applicable statutory inspections. This role will require excellent organisational, technical, PC, communication and customer service skills.
1. To deliver an effective performance, completing PPM and reactive works so to meet required deadlines. Support the M&E Supervisor as required.
2. To maintain appropriate qualifications and up-to-date trade knowledge as may be required for the safe and efficient performance of duties, specifically associated with the core skills.
3. To apply the relevant trade skills to undertake scheduled, planned and reactive maintenance tasks proactively or as directed. This will include but is not limited to testing of wiring to fixed electrical installations, emergency lighting and portable appliances. This will from time to time include minor installation and project type works.
4. To immediately report and/or make safe, any potentially dangerous or hazardous situations. Escalate to line management.
5. To manage own monthly workloads using PDA handheld device and be familiar with Maximo or similar asset management software system.
6. To ensure the satisfactory, prompt and accurate completion of any associated paperwork as required by the company.
7. To advise on parts/labour for additional works interfacing with suppliers as required and to recommend and maintain an adequate stock level to ensure service delivery.
8. To participate in the on-call system on an agreed rota basis when required.
9. To fulfil Health & Safety responsibilities by adherence to the requirements of the Company’s Health & Safety Policy and Health & Safety management Plans.
10. To comply with the Company’s Policies, Management Plans and Procedures.
11. To undertake such other duties appropriate to the level and character of work as may reasonably be required within the Department/Service. Significant permanent changes in duties will require agreed revisions to be made to this Job Description.
Core skill requirements:
12. Formal qualifications to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant trade.
13. Formal qualification to C&G 2391 - Initial and Periodic Inspection & Testing of electrical systems.
14. Qualified as a minimum on 18th edition wiring regulations.
15. Have an ability to carry out fault finding and diagnostics on commercial electrical systems.
16. Have an understanding of the maintenance requirements of building services assets associated within a multi-site environment.
17. Have an understanding of Permits to Work and Safe Systems of Work.
18. Hold a full driving license and be able to travel independently between sites.
19. You will be required to undertake and achieve Enhanced DBS Certification.
20. Possess good inter-personal skills in dealing with both customers and colleagues.
21. Must be able to work on own initiative and manage monthly workloads via a maintenance management system and PDA.
22. Competent to issue electrical safety Permits to Work.
23. Carrying out all necessary electrical activities so to fulfil the requirements of the contract.
24. Computer literate, particularly in MS Word and Excel.
25. Be able to engage in Competent and Authorised person duties in line with experience and qualifications.
Desirable:
26. Previous experience working on PFI contracts, preferably in an educational environment.
27. An understanding of Asset Maintenance and Lifecycle Works.
28. Asbestos Awareness.
29. Be able to participate in out of hours work from time to time as necessary to meet the needs of the contract.
30. Be able to attend training programmes as necessary to meet contract requirements and for CPD.
