The Role
We’re looking for a School Planning and Transport Manager to lead on school place planning, capital projects, and contribute to the strategic development of the home-to-school transport service. This role plays a key part in ensuring our education infrastructure meets the needs of children and families across the borough.
You’ll work across services and with external partners to manage school capacity, support capital investment, and help shape transport provision that is efficient and inclusive.
This is a strategic post requiring experience in planning, project delivery, and policy implementation within an education or public sector setting.
About You
You’ll bring a strong track record of delivering complex projects and programmes, ideally within education or the wider public sector. You’ll have experience working with schools, academy trusts and multi-agency partners, and be confident using data to inform strategic planningparticularly around school place forecasting and capital investment.
You’ll be comfortable managing operational teams, overseeing budgets, and coordinating home-to-school transport provision. Your communication skills will be key, enabling you to present clear, evidence-based reports to senior officers, elected members and external stakeholders.
You’ll be highly organised, analytical, and able to manage competing priorities. A positive attitude to change, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to negotiate and influence will be essential. You’ll also be committed to continuous professional development and able to interpret complex policy and technical guidance to support decision-making.
