We are also regulated by Local Authorities for services under SEND. Recognized for professionalism and excellence, with a fleet of over 800 vehicles, we support numerous public and private healthcare institutions, delivering over 2,000,000 passenger movements annually.
We have an opportunity for a PSV Company Bus Driver to join our team. The working hours are from 07:00 - 10:00 and 14:00 - 17:00 daily. This is a 25-hour contract. On-site parking is available.
Job purpose
A PSV Company bus driver is responsible for operating passenger-carrying vehicles (PCV), providing excellent customer service, and ensuring a safe and comfortable journey for passengers across HATS buses.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients during journeys and handovers.
* Always wear high-visibility PPE in vehicle movement areas.
* Observe speed limits within depots and school premises.
* Perform vehicle safety walk-round checks before service.
* Report any vehicle or equipment defects promptly.
* Complete defect reports via Vehicle Defect Card or electronic ticketing system.
* Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the vehicle before starting service.
* Comply with laws and company regulations regarding mobile phone use, smoking, and prohibited equipment during duty.
Responsible for health, safety, security, welfare, environmental, and fire safety for yourself, customers, and colleagues, including attending safety briefings and training.
* Report safety incidents using the company’s procedures.
* Understand emergency and evacuation plans.
* Keep the bus cab area safe and tidy.
* Provide high-standard customer service and relevant journey information to passengers.
* Behave professionally and courteously towards customers and colleagues.
* Assist vulnerable individuals, including children, the elderly, and disabled persons.
* Drive vehicles safely, legally, and professionally, adhering to timetables when safe.
* Stay informed about road conditions, diversions, and events affecting the service.
* Hold a valid driving licence and CPC licence, available for inspection at all times.
Work Environment
* Maintain a D1 category licence with no restrictions and a valid CPC licence.
* Keep medical renewals up to date.
* Report any licence changes affecting driving entitlement.
* Make licences available for inspection every 6 months.
* Report to work on time with the proper equipment and dress code.
* Avoid working when overtired or under the influence of substances.
* Follow procedures for absences and incident reporting.
* Participate in annual appraisals and provide service improvement suggestions.
* Adhere to all HATS policies and procedures.
Work flexible hours, primarily between 07:00 - 09:00 and 14:30 - 16:30, including additional hours as needed. Report incidents or issues to the Controller. The role involves outdoor work on vehicles in all weather and traffic conditions.

Desired and Required Criteria
* Valid UK (or acceptable) driver’s licence with no more than 6 penalty points
* Good command of written and spoken English
* Eligibility to work in the UK
* References and proof of identity and licence
* Professional driving experience
* 7 hours of DCPC training annually
* Secondary education or equivalent
* Willingness to undertake further training, such as NVQ
* Ability to drive safely and competently
* Good communication skills in English at ESOL Entry Level 2
