Inpatient Matron role at NSFT Jobs. The Matron provides clinical leadership across designated services to ensure safe, high-quality care, effective resource use, and delivery of evidence-based patient care.
Responsibilities
* Lead the clinical, operational, performance and financial management of designated services, ensuring effective resource utilisation and the delivery of evidence-based patient care.
* Provide clear, visible leadership, strategic vision and clinical expertise to enhance the service user experience in conjunction with the lead clinician.
* Maintain consistent high standards of patient safety, quality and clinical care within the clinical area.
* Act as a Dignity Champion ensuring that respect and dignity underpin all practice.
* Promote and deliver the matron agenda, as defined by the Department of Health.
* Provide a visible, accessible, and authoritative presence in clinical settings and related forums to patients, carers and staff.
* Provide clear and effective clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary care team.
* Provide support to staff and facilitate staff development via training, clinical supervision, and mentorship.
* Ensure that clinical care is based on best practice and continuous service improvement initiatives, e.g. AIMS and RTTC.
* Undertake the lead role in the development of nursing practice within the inpatient setting, consistent with the Trust’s and national strategies.
* Lead on governance within the clinical area, ensuring compliance with registration requirements and quality initiatives including CQC and CQUIN.
* Lead on risk assessment in clinical areas and raise standards of patient safety, quality and clinical care within clinical environments.
* Ensure service users’ needs are the focus of all care delivery and implement the core principles of the Matron as described within the NHS Plan (DOH).
* Be accountable for service improvements to the Associate Director of Nursing and Quality.
