We are seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer to lead the design and development of connector-related products, with a strong emphasis on RJ45 connectors. This role will focus on new product development, product maintenance, and engineering change processes while also contributing to the modernization of engineering systems and documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the design, development, and maintenance of connector products, with a focus on RJ45 connectors.
* Execute engineering change processes (ECs) for product improvements and modifications.
* Utilize CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD for legacy designs) to develop and refine product designs.
* Play a key role in deploying and managing a PDM system to control engineering drawings, models, and data.
* Collaborate with external vendors on injection molding, stamping, and assembly for new product designs and manufacturing issue resolution.
* Develop and refine hand and automated crimping tools for RJ45 connector terminations.
* Work closely with the tool room to support prototyping and manufacturing.
* Maintain and update BOMs and master data within an ERP system.
* Contribute to the structured EC process to ensure accurate documentation and product revisions.
* Support the New Product Development (NPD) process, including gated approvals and production release.
* Ensure compliance with ISO standards and contribute to quality and documentation improvements.
* Provide project management support to streamline engineering workflows and modernize current manual processes.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
* 5+ years of experience in connector design, with a strong focus on RJ45 connectors.
* CAD experience (SolidWorks ; AutoCAD for legacy designs).
* Experience with PDM systems (SolidWorks PDM ); setup and deployment experience is a major plus.
* Background in tool room operations and hands-on experience designing crimping tools.
* Familiarity with injection molding, stamping, and assembly processes.
* Experience with ERP systems (creating and maintaining BOMs and master data).
* Knowledge of structured engineering change processes (ECs).
* Understanding of gated New Product Development (NPD) processes and transitioning products from engineering to production.
* ISO experience is desirable.
* Project management experience is a plus, especially in modernizing and digitizing engineering documentation.
