Mechanical Design Engineer
Soham, Cambridgeshire
Commutable from Littleport, Mildenhall, Newmarket, Cambridge
Salary: £35,000+ (depending on experience)
Working hours: Monday - Friday (flexible start/finish times)

Our client is a small but stable business based near Soham, Cambridgeshire. They specialize in designing and assembling scientific machinery for various R&D environments. With a low staff turnover, they are now looking to hire a mechanical engineer due to an upcoming retirement. Full training will be provided.
Role & Responsibilities:
* Produce 2D drawings using DesignCAD
* Design vacuum-based instrumentation
* Utilize 3D modeling for assembly reviews
* Design using materials such as polymers, alloys, bronze, and stainless steel
* Work as the sole mechanical engineer after a hand-over period
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
* Experience with 2D and 3D design software
* Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to take on new challenges
* Experience with ultra-high vacuum systems (advantageous)
* Experience with high-voltage ion optics (advantageous)
