Leader Education is recruiting a dedicated and compassionate
Mental Health Support Worker
to work within a supportive school setting in Blyth, Northumberland. This rewarding role involves providing targeted support to pupils experiencing social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
You will work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs and pastoral teams to support pupils who may be facing anxiety, trauma, behavioural difficulties, or other barriers to learning. Your role will be vital in promoting emotional wellbeing, resilience and positive engagement in school life.
This role is Monday-Friday, 8:30-3:30
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 and small group emotional wellbeing support
* Support pupils with SEMH needs within the classroom and pastoral settings
* Implement behaviour support strategies and emotional regulation techniques
* Assist with the development of personalised support plans
* Build trusting, consistent relationships with vulnerable pupils
* Promote safeguarding, inclusion and positive mental health awareness
We're Looking For
* Experience working with children or young people with mental health or behavioural needs
* Background in Psychology, Counselling, Youth Work, Health & Social Care or similar (desirable)
* Calm, resilient and empathetic approach
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Ability to remain patient and professional in challenging situations
* Understanding of safeguarding and child protection (training can be provided)
* DBS on the update service or the willingness to obtain one
