Responsibilities
for this STE5 Examiner role are:
1. Carry out building and structural surveys and inspections across the Western region.
2. Lead and complete examinations in line with Network Rail standards and relevant legislation.
3. Accurately assess building conditions, identify defects, and recommend remedial actions.
4. Undertake possession work and produce high-quality condition assessment reports.
5. Ensure accurate and timely data entry into Citadel and other reporting systems to meet contract KPIs.
6. Report any significant or urgent defects to the Operations and Delivery Managers.
7. Support and mentor junior staff members.
8. Maintain compliance with all Health & Safety requirements and key company procedures.
Skills and experience required for this STE5 Examiner role are:
9. Minimum 5 years’ experience in building surveying, inspections, or asset management within rail or civil engineering sectors.
10. Qualified to STE05 competency.
11. Strong understanding of structural mechanics, construction methods, and materials.
12. PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification essential.
13. Knowledge of Network Rail Standards (NR/L3/CIV/006), CDM Regulations, and infrastructure safety requirements.
14. Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.
15. Strong attention to detail with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
16. Awareness or certification in Confined Spaces, Asbestos Awareness, and Working at Height preferred.
