Hygiene Team Leader – Permanent Role (40 Hours per Week)

We are supporting a well-established international food manufacturer as they expand their operations in Buckingham for 2025. As part of this growth, we are recruiting a Hygiene Team Leader to join their new night-shift operations team.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will ensure high standards of hygiene, safety, and food quality across the site, while leading and developing a small team of Hygiene Operatives.
Key Details
Direct Reports: 2 x Hygiene Operators
Salary: £33,000 + 25% shift allowance
Shift: Monday to Friday, 22:00 – 06:00
Contract: Permanent, 40 hours per week (includes paid break)
Your Mission
As the Hygiene Team Leader, you will oversee all nightly hygiene activities to ensure cleaning tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with food safety standards. You will allocate work, champion food safety, support audits, and lead investigations into hygiene-related non-conformances.
You will also act as the senior point of contact on night shift, representing the site professionally and delivering clear handovers to day teams.
What You Will Do
Lead and Develop Your Team
Supervise and support Hygiene Operators
Drive engagement, performance, and continuous improvement
Ensure Compliance and Safety
Maintain high hygiene, allergen-control, and safety standards
Ensure all activities are fully traceable and audit-ready
Manage the Cleaning Schedule
Allocate cleaning tasks and monitor completion
Ensure all work is thorough and delivered on time
Champion Food Safety
Train your team on contamination risks and safe working practices
Investigate and Resolve Issues
Lead investigations into hygiene-related non-conformances
Implement corrective and preventive actions
Collaborate Across Teams
Work with Production, Quality, Engineering, and R&D
Support internal and external audits
Act as Night-Shift Lead
Represent the site in emergencies or external interactions
Provide concise and consistent handovers

At least 2–3 years’ experience in the food industry or FMCG – Essential
Confident and competent user of SAP
Confident and competent user of Applied Principles
Confident user of computers and new technology
Good written and verbal communication skills
Proven team player, able to work collaboratively at all levels and build partnerships with cross-functional teams
Excellent attention to detail, methodical approach, and strong organisational skills
Team Leader/Management Level 3 – Essential
Lean Manufacturing Level 2 – Desirable
