Job Summary
Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust seeks an experienced Podiatry Operational Lead to provide clinical and operational leadership for our newly integrated Community Podiatry and Diabetes Care For You (DCFY) service across Brighton & Hove and East Sussex.
This role ensures safe, effective, and high‑quality podiatry services, overseeing service delivery, workforce development, governance, and performance. You will partner with Heads of Service and Professional Leads to drive transformation, improve service delivery, and enhance patient experience.

The role is based at Brighton General Hospital and Moulsecoomb Health Centre, with travel across Brighton & Hove and East Sussex. A full driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle are required.
Responsibilities
* Lead operational and clinical aspects of the integrated podiatry service.
* Ensure effective governance and safe clinical practice for all staff.
* Manage delivery of patient care and oversee daily operations, including demand and capacity monitoring.
* Lead line management of staff in line with SCFT policies, covering recruitment, performance, and absence management.
* Deliver workforce development initiatives, including competency frameworks and skill‑sharing.
* Manage delegated budget and contribute to annual business planning.
* Support Trust transformation programmes and the SCFT Clinical Strategy.
* Provide specialist clinical advice on complex cases and maintain a personal caseload.
* Lead on audit and contribute to research that informs service development.
* Represent the service at senior management meetings, leadership forums, and transformation events.
* Maintain effective communication systems across the team and manage complaints and incidents as per Trust policy.
* Supervise podiatry student placements and clinical staff training.
* Provide performance data for service planning, workforce development, and KPI delivery.
* Act as a professional role model and uphold Trust values at all times.
Person Specification
* Professional qualification in Podiatry (degree or equivalent).
* Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
* Evidence of relevant postgraduate courses, CPD, and reflective practice (e.g., Nail Surgery and Certificate in Local Anaesthesia).
* Competencies appropriate for the role.
Desirable: Post‑registration qualification or master’s level training and experience, and experience managing or administering a budget.
