The position of Tax (VAT) Manager offers a broad, hands-on opportunity to lead UK and international tax affairs for this iconic brand. The successful candidate will take ownership of tax compliance and reporting, including VAT, GST, and sales tax, while managing the tax risk register and ensuring timely filings across the reporting calendar.
This role provides a unique combination of strong indirect tax exposure and corporate tax support, including areas such as capital and R&D allowances. The Tax Manager will work closely with external advisors on risk and technical matters, provide internal guidance and training to stakeholders, and drive process improvements through the adoption of advanced technologies such as ERP systems and tax automation tools (e.g., Avalara and Vertex). Key Responsibilities:
* Lead UK and international tax compliance and reporting, including VAT, GST, and sales tax.
* Manage the tax risk register and oversee the reporting calendar to ensure timely filings.
* Provide corporate tax support, including capital and R&D allowances.
* Collaborate with external advisors to address risk and technical tax matters.
* Offer internal guidance and training to stakeholders on tax-related matters.
* Drive process improvements and implement tax technologies such as ERP systems and automation tools.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with HMRC and other relevant bodies.
Required Skills and Experience:
* 5 – 7 years of experience in a tax-focused role, with strong VAT technical expertise.
* Professional qualification (e.g., CTA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
* Proven ability to manage tax risk and work effectively with HMRC.
* Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
* Experience in retail or international indirect tax is highly desirable.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
