About Us

Risktec Solutions Ltd is an established, independent engineering and risk management consultancy. Our mission is to help our clients, and hence society, meet their evolving energy and infrastructure needs in a safe, sustainable, and ethical way. Our people are high calibre and motivated professionals, with a clear focus on meeting clients’ expectations.

Job Overview

We are seeking talented engineers who are graduating or have recently graduated to join our collaborative team based in Great Yarmouth and onsite at Sizewell B/C. The successful candidates will support the delivery of construction engineering, safety case updates and project management to several major projects within the nuclear power generation sector. Such projects include site‑wide modifications at Sizewell B, civil engineering projects to support the construction of Sizewell C, and safety case work for EDF Design Authority.

Across the Risktec South of England nuclear wider team, individuals are involved in work supporting commissioning activities at Hinkley Point C and safety case documentation for Small Module Reactor Generic Design Assessments.

You will be based at Sizewell B, where you will be working for our major nuclear client and will be mentored and managed by Principal Engineers from Risktec Solutions Ltd.

Responsibilities

* Supporting the delivery of major construction‑based safety cases.
* Providing specialist civil/structural input and advice to resolve construction problems.
* Facilitating hazard identification in cooperation with CDM regulations and optioneering workshops.
* Production of formal technical reports, safety cases, and other project deliverables on time and to budget.
* Implementation of modifications to the site, including:
o Supporting the construction team and client during the construction process through problem‑solving.
o Supporting the build of a safety case through justification of design.
o Reviewing design proposals and producing design substantiation reports.
o Authoring testing and commissioning strategies and functional test procedures.
* Support to plant operability, including:
o Condition monitoring and identification of plant faults.
o Supporting equipment reliability reviews, including plant walk‑downs.
o Reviewing maintenance routines/strategy.
* Management of projects, project teams, and interfacing with clients.

This role offers the opportunity to support the development of wider company initiatives, such as industry networking and learning. The role also provides the potential to support other Risktec sectors such as oil and gas, clean energy, transport, defence, and conventional power in the future.

Requirements

* Background in Civil or Structural design.
* Knowledge and experience of construction sites and compliance with CDM regulations.
* Familiarity with work management processes.
* Industry transferable experience.
* A drive to ensure successful delivery and continuous client satisfaction by delivering pragmatic and proportionate solutions.
* The ability to work as part of a team, as well as to work independently where needed.
* Clear communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong organisational skills.
* Strong analytical and logical skills.
* The ability to travel within the UK.

Experience within nuclear engineering would be beneficial but is not expected.

Duration of Position

Full‑time (38h/week) with an initial fixed duration of 1 year with a view to becoming permanent.

What Can We Offer?

* Car allowance (dependent on grade).
* Profit share.
* Company pension contributions.
* Flexible and hybrid working.
* Private medical insurance.
* Health and wellbeing – digital GP, access to wellbeing app and support.
* Enhanced maternity and paternity leave.
* Sustainable benefits such as salary sacrifice electric vehicles and cycle to work schemes.
* Training and development:
o Access to certified CPD courses and a university postgraduate education programme, delivered in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University, including the opportunity to enrol on the MSc in Risk and Safety Management.
o Support to individuals working towards Chartership including company mentor scheme and institution fees reimbursed.

Additional Information

Due to the nature of the work, candidates must have a suitable background that will allow them to achieve UK security clearance to a minimum level of BPSS (please note that this is very difficult to achieve within the timescales for non‑UK nationals and you will be subject to a screening process prior to interview to ensure that you meet the security clearance criteria).
