Overview
We are looking for a Maintenance Engineering Manager to join our busy team in the north of Ridgeway. Base Location: Oxford, Swindon, Melksham or Andover. Salary: £49,004 – £57,728 plus a car/cash allowance and a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family. The role is Full‑Time, Permanent with flexible first options available.
Responsibilities
* Day‑to‑day management of field‑based electrical fitters.
* Planning and delivering primary and substation maintenance work on equipment at voltages up to 11kV and coordinating with another manager to deliver 33kV maintenance.
* Managing an annual plan of works ensuring all outputs are delivered within agreed budgets.
* Authorising timesheets, financial accountability for your outputs and ensuring the team have the correct tools and equipment to complete all required tasks safely.
* Liaising with Control and other delivery teams to plan network outages that optimise outcomes for customers and the business.
Qualifications
* Experience of working on and operating electrical networks up to 33kV. Senior authorisation up to 33kV is advantageous but not essential.
* Excellent people leadership skills, with experience in change management and leading high‑volume output projects.
* Proficient IT and data analytical skills to ensure accurate and timely reporting through systems such as Maximo, Electric Office, Excel and PowerOn.
* A strong health and safety mindset, aligned with SSE’s Safety family culture and experience of integrating and maintaining safety within an operational environment.
* Enthusiasm, drive, a flexible approach to work and the ability to adapt to an ever‑changing environment.
