The API Platform Owner (MuleSoft) is responsible for the governance, evolution, and operational excellence of St. James’s Place’s enterprise API platform (currently MuleSoft). The role ensures the MuleSoft Anypoint platform delivers secure, scalable, and reliable integration capabilities that underpin digital transformation and strategic business initiatives. You represent the platform, defining standards, driving adoption, and ensuring maximum value realisation from SJP’s investment. The role holder will work closely with Integration Architects, Data Architects and our development partners, building and maintaining relationships with external and internal stakeholders to support successful delivery of integrations using the Platform. They will also keep abreast of key developments that could impact our systems as well as changes in tools, technologies or working practices that can be exploited to improve the services we deliver and have responsibility for Business Continuity, ensuring adherence to all SJP cloud and SJP IT policies, and working closely with the Cyber team to ensure data and application security where appropriate. What you’ll be doing Owning and maintaining the API platform roadmap, ensuring alignment with SJP’s integration, technical and digital strategies. Defining, implementing, and enforcing API governance, design standards, and lifecycle management best practices across the enterprise. Proactively communicating and collaborating with external and internal stakeholders and provide appropriate business challenge as required and to deliver the change that they have prioritised. In conjunction with the Development Team Lead, overseeing and effectively prioritising the backlog for platform change. Being accountable for management of the MuleSoft platform environment(s) including CloudHub, Runtime Fabric, and Anypoint Exchange, ensuring availability, scalability, and security. Partnering with delivery teams to enable API-led connectivity, supporting solution design and platform onboarding. Acting as subject matter expert for MuleSoft licensing, capacity management, upgrades, and technical optimisation, working closely with vendor technical support. Collaborating with Architecture, Security, and DevOps to ensure compliance with SJP’s IT and data governance policies. Driving platform adoption through evangelism, training, and best practice sharing across development and business teams. Continuously measuring and improving platform performance, usage, and ROI metrics. Who we’re looking for: We’re looking for an experienced API Platform that will ensure that the design principles are adhered to and ensure we deliver the right solution to our clients and partners whilst sticking to the defined roadmap Essential Criteria: Experience of owning an API platform roadmap, ensuring with alignment integration, technical and digital strategies. Expert knowledge of MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, including API Manager, Exchange, Runtime Manager, and Anypoint Monitoring. Strong understanding of API-led connectivity principles, integration patterns, and microservice architectures. Experience with CI/CD, DevOps pipelines, and automated deployment for MuleSoft applications. Familiarity with security standards (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, TLS, etc.) and governance frameworks. Desirable Criteria: Strong knowledge in building long-term relationships across stakeholders and third party suppliers. Strong knowledge of Agile and Waterfall methodologies. Experience developing, coaching, and mentoring junior team members. MuleSoft Certified Platform Architect / Integration Architect. What's in it for you?
