About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated
Overall Construction Manager (OCM)
to join a major project in the UK at the Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Station site. As the OCM, you will be the central figure in coordinating all on-site construction activities, serving as the primary interface between internal teams, external partners, and the client. You will be responsible for leading a team, managing the M&E budget, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality are met throughout the project lifecycle. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a decisive and resilient leader with a strong sense of urgency.
Key Responsibilities
* Site and Project Coordination:
Develop and execute a management strategy for the supervision and coordination of site erection works. You will lead daily and weekly meetings with clients and subcontractors, and ensure smooth communication with all project stakeholders.
* Subcontractor and Partner Management:
Oversee the execution of work by all subcontractors and partners, managing their scope, progress, and costs.
* Budget and Planning:
Take full ownership of the Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) budget and planning. You will also assist the Site Director in preparing the quarterly Construction Project Review.
* Team Leadership:
Lead and manage the M&E team, including Construction Managers, Supervisors, Material Control, and a Site Technical Officer. You will continuously manage and develop people.
* Quality & EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety):
Participate in the development and implementation of the strategic overall EHS and Quality plan. You will also promote and champion a "We Put Quality First" and "All Together" EHS culture.
* Reporting & Analytics:
Prepare data on overall progress, completed activities, and forecasts to completion. This includes reporting on subcontractor performance, material issues, and manpower.
* Authority & Decision-Making:
You will have the authority to interrupt any activity to meet quality requirements ("STOP WORK"). You can also suspend work proceeding in a non-compliant or unsafe manner.
Qualifications & Skills
Mandatory (MUST):
* Higher education degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or Business Administration.
* Vast experience in site construction execution with a thorough knowledge of power plant systems.
* Thorough knowledge of power plant systems.
* Logical and process-minded.
* Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
* High degree of integrity, judgment, and decisiveness.
* Proficient in English.
Desirable (NICE TO HAVE):
* University degree is preferred.
* Experience in the energy sector and project management.
* Knowledge of ASME, EN, or PED standards.
* Multicultural experience and the ability to motivate people from different cultures.
