📍 Motherwell, Scotland | 💼 Permanent, Full-Time | 🕒 Hybrid working available
Are you ready to take on some of the UK’s most technically demanding and rewarding engineering challenges?
We’re seeking a Senior Design Engineer (EC&I) to join our team in Motherwell, working across defence, nuclear and substation projects that strengthen the nation’s critical infrastructure.
This is an opportunity to apply your technical expertise on projects that truly matter — where precision, safety and innovation come together to deliver lasting impact.
🔧 What you’ll be doing
* Designing and developing EC&I systems for major defence, nuclear and power infrastructure projects.
* Producing and verifying detailed technical documentation — from drawings and specifications to design reports and schedules.
* Reviewing supplier and manufacturer documentation for EC&I compliance and quality assurance.
* Supporting design and construction reviews, identifying and mitigating design risks.
* Providing expert technical guidance to project teams and contributing to design innovation.
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and suppliers.
* Mentoring and developing junior engineers within the team.
👷 What we’re looking for
* Proven experience in electrical, control and instrumentation design.
* Excellent communication and report-writing skills, with a collaborative and problem-solving approach.
* Strong working knowledge of relevant standards, codes and regulations.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with design tools.
* A passion for innovation, safety and continuous improvement.
* Due to the nature of the projects, candidates must have lived and worked in the UK for at least the past 5 years to meet security clearance requirements.
🌈 Why you’ll love working here
Join a business that’s engineering a safer, smarter and more resilient future. You’ll enjoy:
* Flexible working options, including staggered hours and up to 40% remote working.
* 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays).
* Enhanced family-friendly policies, including up to 28 weeks full maternity/adoption pay and 4 weeks full paternity/partner pay.
* Pension, share incentive plan, volunteering leave and recognition schemes.
* A diverse and inclusive culture where your voice is heard, and your growth is supported.
