FACILITIES ASSISTANT BACKGROUND, COMPANY INFORMATION AND JOB DESCRIPTION Parkwood Leisure, a leisure support services company, is part of Parkwood Holdings. The Facilities Assistant has a varied and interesting role. The activities at Mulberry are wide ranging and include the operation of the School Premises and a Community Use Sports Centre in the evening and weekend. This allows for an exciting day, using your skills on a diverse range of jobs. JOB DESCRIPTION Primary Objectives for the Facilities Assistant position will be: - To ensure that the building is safe for all users and all work is carried out within site specific Health & Safety procedures To maintain, develop and care for all internal and external areas of the school in line with the contractual performance standards The Facilities Assistant will focus day to day on the following tasks: Opening and unlocking of the building Equipment set ups i.e. exams & school events Maintenance of tools/machinery and PL equipment, including grounds equipment such as; strimmers and lawn mowers etc (only when management has agreed competent to do so) Assist in basic grounds work i.e. weeding, litter picking, sweeping and emptying bins General day to day maintenance duties Health & Safety - to check building regularly for any hazards and report immediately Be aware of site security and report issues immediately To ensure no build up of rubbish or items which could result in fire risk To use Personal Protective Equipment and to work within all agreed Health & Safety procedures and methods of work To use any tools and machinery safely (only when management has agreed competent to do so) Carry out regular Health & Safety checks as dictated by the Operations Manager, i.e. Fire Call Point tests, Extinguisher checks, Fire Exit checks etc Be aware of noise disruption and work around the school timetable To undertake other duties as may reasonably be required To be flexible with working hours in order to achieve performance standards with minimal disruption to the school THE CANDIDATE Qualifications The candidate will not necessarily hold a recognised qualification but may be required to undertake various training courses that are relevant to the role Personal Among the personal characteristics sought the applicant: Will be able to demonstrate good organisational skills Will be flexible to assist in other areas of the facilities management Will be able to meet performance standards Will be able communicate effectively with colleagues and management
