We are looking for a PatientCoordinator (Medical Receptionist) to join our established, small friendly teamat Hamilton Medical Centre.
The position will be 19 hours perweek over 2 days. Tuesday 8am - 730pm and Thursday 8am - 6.30pm.
The candidate must beflexible to work overtime and cover holidays/sickness at short notice whenneeded.
Ideally the candidates will haveexperience of working in general practice and using EMIS Web, however, this isnot essential as full training will be given. The candidates must be able towork in a small friendly team and most important have a good sense of humour!
Main duties of the job
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
Variety of reception duties including helping with patient queries, booking appointments etc
Variety of administrative duties, including scanning hospital letters etc
About us
We are a small but expanding, very busy GP Practice based in Birkenhead, Wirral. The practice has 2 GP Partners, 1 Salaried GP, 2 Nurses and a HCA. As a training practice we currently have 3 placement Doctors and medical students based with us. We have a small but strong administration team.
We also host many other services including Ear Syringe, Physio, Minor Surgery, Health coach and advice.
We also look after 2 nearby Care Homes and do weekly clinics at 2 nearby hostels.
There will be chance of overtime and cover, as well as offer of NHS Pension.
Job responsibilities
Administration
To have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures
To work in accordance of written protocols
Filing post in medical records
photocopy as requested
Deal with any other administration work allocated to you.
Reception
Receiving patients, consulting with members of practice team
Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address.
Be able to cover all reception positions as necessary
Appointments
Process appointment requests for today/future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.
Deal with visits/requests
Computer
Computer data entry and medical records
Process patients changes of address computer data and medical records
Process prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines
Telephone
Deal with incoming calls
Deal with outgoing calls
Other Tasks
Ensure building security have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm
Any other tasks allocated by managers

Qualifications
* Experience within the NHS,
* Experience using EMIS Web
* Experience in a reception role
