Overview
The successful candidate will participate in a 1 in 10 on-call rota for Labour ward and Gynecology on call. On‑call shifts must be swapped well in advance if there is a need to take Annual or Study leave. Weekends will include direct clinical care sessions with twice‑daily ward rounds in line with the Ockendon recommendations. In non‑weekend weeks, clinical sessions will be supported by other activities with a focus on enabling annual leave to be taken.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver agreed standards of care and work to achieve a 60‑hour consultant presence on the delivery suite.
* Support delivery of activity targets in partnership with Clinical Commissioning Groups and support service developments, where possible.
* Provide professional supervision, direction and training for junior medical staff.
* Take an active role in audit, research, bedside and teaching sessions.
* Participate in the on‑call and night shift rota for Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
* Contribute to cost‑efficiency initiatives across the department.
* Participate in the Clinical Governance activities of the Trust to maintain quality standards of clinical services.
* Ensure Continuing Professional Development targets are achieved and take part in revalidation and annual appraisal processes.
* Ensure adequate arrangements are in place for hospital staff to contact you when necessary.
* Support the department in meeting challenging key performance indicators.

SPAs are expected to be worked on site unless agreed otherwise with the Clinical Director and specified in the job plan.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have extensive experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and demonstrate an ability to work effectively as part of a broad consultant team. The role requires adaptability as all job plans may evolve with the department.
