The postholder is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of everyone attending all events at the Stadium (and other sites) in accordance with the Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds (Green Guide), the specific requirements of the Safety Certificate issued by the Local Authority under the Safety of Sports Ground Act 1975, and the Club’s Health and Safety (including Spectator Safety) Policies and Procedures. This includes football matches, other sporting events, and non-sporting events such as concerts and conferences.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Plan, implement, and monitor all matches and events at the Stadium to ensure full compliance with national legislation and SGSA guidelines.
2. Review safety risk assessments ('S' and 'P' safety factors) in conjunction with external contractors, recommending adjustments as needed.
3. Ensure relevant checks and assessments per the SGSA Green Guide are conducted regarding physical infrastructure for matchday operations.
4. Assist with hosting pre-match briefings, post-match debriefs, and the production and review of related documents.
5. Build and maintain relationships with licensing authorities, safety advisory groups, emergency services, and other relevant bodies.
6. Ensure the Stadium is compliant with all health and safety legislation and fit for purpose for all events.
7. Manage relationships with partner organizations to ensure high standards of event management.
8. Review and update operations manuals, policies, procedures, and documents related to matchday and event operations.
9. Provide training to matchday and security teams, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practices.
10. Maintain and review risk assessments for all sites used by the club, including the academy and women's teams.
11. Keep all matchday documentation current, including contingency plans and operations manuals.
12. Investigate safety incidents, compile reports, and analyze steward debriefs for continuous improvement.
13. Assist in customer satisfaction monitoring and steward service standards.
14. Maintain safety equipment and assist in staff recruitment, induction, and training.
HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Comply with the Club’s Health & Safety policies and legal obligations.
SAFEGUARDING
* Adhere to safeguarding policies and report concerns to the designated officer.
* This role requires an Enhanced DBS check.
About The Candidate
* Possess or be working towards NVQ level 4 or 5 in Spectator Safety.
* Hold relevant health and safety qualifications such as IOSH or NEBOSH.
* Have Safeguarding Level 2 or equivalent.
* Have knowledge of the SGSA Green Guide.
* At least 2 years’ experience as a safety officer/deputy at a sports ground, preferably at a football stadium.
* Excellent communication and IT skills.
* Knowledge of safety issues in sporting venues and experience in health and safety systems.
* Trustworthy, organized, motivated, and able to lead teams.
* Flexible availability including weekends and evenings.
* Committed to professional development.
