Overview
This role offers a great opportunity for an experienced Service Engineer. You will play a key role in supporting the Service Department by performing maintenance and repairs on customer-owned diesel generators and our rental fleet. This position requires a high degree of customer interaction and collaboration with various departments, so a strong customer service focus is essential.
Responsibilities
* Perform routine servicing and maintenance of diesel generators for both customer-owned and rental equipment.
* Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on customer and rental generators, ensuring quick resolution of issues.
* Conduct site surveys as requested to assess service needs and maintenance requirements.
* Participate in the company’s on-call rota system to provide timely assistance during off-hours.
* Comply with company health and safety policy.
* Comply with ISO H&S, Quality and Environmental Management procedures.
Qualifications
* A relevant qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Diesel Fitting, or Plant Maintenance (e.g., City & Guilds, BTEC).
* Alternatively, completion of an approved apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
* Proven experience in servicing and repairing generator sets, particularly FG Wilson, Cummins, or similar (Essential).
* Strong fault-finding skills and effective communication abilities.
* Prior experience working in a field service role (advantageous).
* Full driving licence required.
* Demonstrated ability to understand and meet customer requirements efficiently and effectively.
* Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
* ECS/CSCS or CCNSG competency card preferred but not essential (training can be provided if necessary).
